**THIS TEAM IS FULL**This team will travel to New York City to come alongside the work of City Relief, a mobile outreach offering people experiencing poverty and homelessness hot meals, supplies, and connections to resources for housing, employment, and health care. Trip members will play a critical role in helping City Relief maximize its impact as they see, know, and love their neighbors.
In addition to the four days of street outreach, this trip is also designed to foster a deeper awareness and understanding of the poverty and housing crisis in our country and how we can learn to love and honor the dignity of our neighbors at the margins. We believe that proximity builds empathy, and that learning happens as we connect with diverse lived experiences and have compassionate and curious conversations with people outside of our echo chambers.
We also have the opportunity to spend time with Dr. Craig Mayes (Kensington Executive Pastor) and his wife Chris Mayes (Communitas Lead Pastor), the Pastors at Communitas Church in New York City. We will attend their Sunday gathering, where the majority of their attendees are women and men who are facing the challenges of poverty and homeless.
The cost of the trip is $1000 with a $100 deposit due at registration. All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Trip participants must be 18 or over. The pre-trip planning process consists of 2 team meetings prior to the team leaving and 2 team meetings after the team returns home.
All Kensington's short-term trips exist to encourage and assist our global partners as they share the Gospel, plant churches, and meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs within their cultural communities - AND - to help Kensington team members grow deeper in their relationships with Christ as they serve as His heart, hands, and feet.
